What is Newsquare Network?
Newsquare Network is a newly formed network to support startups, consisting of angel investors, VC investors, and people who can help startups. We are sector agnostic, but have a strong interest in women-led startups, social impact, healthcare, and startups that engage with cities. However, more generally we look at anything interesting, clever, and exciting.
What does it do?
We currently hold private pitch and networking events online, roughly once a month. This will partly go back offline after the lockdown.
Who is involved?
Newsquare Network is a private network, built organically through the members' contacts. The members attend the online events, and network with each other. Members are highly connected, and are mainly angel investors, fund managers, or people who support startups professionally. The network was founded by Tobias Stone.
Why is Newsquare Network different?
Newsquare Network is a hybrid between an angel group and an accelerator, because it aims to offer both investment and mentoring to startups. Newsquare Network wants to get away from startups pitching for investment, and leaving with money or nothing. Members are encouraged to offer mentoring support and introductions through their networks to startups that pitch, even if they don’t invest in them.
Newsquare Network does not charge members or startups, but creates value for everyone by making stuff happen. A dynamic, interesting network is valuable to everyone involved, and the main aim is to help get money flowing to startups, and support them in their development.
